General Discussion
Performance ratings were created to encourage accountability, reward top talent, and guide improvement. But many employees say ratings do the opposite—they create anxiety, encourage unhealthy competition, and make people feel reduced to a score rather than valued for their work.
This raises a bigger question: Are performance ratings truly a tool for growth, or have they become a source of demotivation that hurts more than they help?
💬 We’d love to hear your perspective—what has been your personal experience with performance ratings? Do they push you forward, or hold you back?
